About

After five years working as Regional Communications Director for Greenpeace in the Mediterranean and Middle East, Caroline Muscat read a Masters degree in Media & Globalisation at the University of Leicester – she graduated with distinction. Her research focused on ‘Democracy and Activism in the Age of Spin’. Caroline also holds a Diploma in Journalism by the Press Association (UK) and Allied Newspapers.

Caroline has been publishing articles and reports in the media for more than 10 years, and held the post of Assistant Editor of The Sunday Times of Malta until her resignation last year. Her writing has been published in various newspapers, magazines and web sites in Malta and overseas. Apart from The Sunday Times of Malta, her work has appeared in The Malta Independent on Sunday, Malta Today, European Voice (Brussels), Zmag (USA), Spinwatch (UK) and The Sunday Times of London, among others.

Awards

Caroline Muscat was awarded the European Commission’s national prize for journalism against discrimination for two consecutive years, in 2010 and 2011.

She was also the Executive Producer of the documentary entitled Mediterranean Blues, investigating the problem of toxic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea, which won the Main Award at ENVIROFILM 2000. You can watch the documentary on Director Todd Southgate’s site.
